Lockheed Martin Fury UAV – drone technology is going forwards

Fury is a long-endurance, survivable Unmanned Aerial System that brings strategic capabilities to the tactical warfighter. With the largest payload capacity and volume among runway-independent UAS, and its advanced heavy fuel propulsion system, best in class power generation, and low signature design, Fury is capable of supporting any Intelligence, Surveillance Reconnaissance and IEW requirement.

According to LM, the drone key features are:

  • Runway independency,
  • Above 12 h endurance,
  • Ability to carry over 90 kgs (200 lbs) of payload and fuel,
  • Adaptable and reconfigurable construction,
  • Strong, reliable engine,
  • Open, IP Based Architecture,
  • Blended 17-foot wingspan for minimal visual signature,
  • Many payload configurations.

Currently LM Corp. is undertaking a range of enhancements to its Fury UAV and anticipates an order for the platform this summer. Now the drone itself is participating in many various tests. Some of them have been already completed successfully, which is very important, because one of the Middle East countries will be probably the first customer of this aircraft.
